What does Younison Stand for?

Younison and its partners believe these should be the five basic principles of collective management:
  1. The board structure of a collecting society should accurately represent its members.
  2. A collecting society should be governed by all of its members.
  3. A collecting society should make timely distribution payments to its members on at least a quarterly basis and include interest payments.
  4. A collecting society should ensure that all distributions show detailed and identifiable accounting and using new digital technologies to that effect, when such technologies exist.
  5. Collecting societies should make payments based on more accurate and rigorous monitoring of usage.
The CRM directive is a unique opportunity to modernise the collective rights management framework and the way in which collecting societies operate, manage and distribute the monies they collect on behalf of their members. The systematic use of new technology that allows for a more accurate and fairer division of monies collected should be encouraged in order to succeed.

Younison wants to see amendments included in the current directive to ensure these five basic principles are adopted by all European collecting societies and this opportunity to modernise is seized.

The European Parliament and Council are currently reviewing the draft Directive on Collective Rights Management. This new European legislation is a unique opportunity to modernise the collective rights management framework.
